Recap the latest Man United news from transfer deadline day after the club sealed four signings.

Manchester United completed several deadline day deals following their shellacking by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Things started brightly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the Premier League contest when Bruno Fernandes put them ahead from the penalty spot after just 30 seconds but things quickly unraveled.

United quickly went 2-1 behind and following the red card for Anthony Martial Spurs made them pay. Two goals from Harry Kane, another from Son Heung-min and a Serge Aurier strike further compounded United's misery after Tanguy Ndombele's early leveller.

United had until 11pm to make any more additions to the squad before the window closed on deadline day.

Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani both joined the club while deals were also completed for young wingers wingers Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri. United failed to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Recap the latest United news.

That's all

Pellistri's announcement brings our deadline day transfer blog to an end.

Thank you for joining us as United completed four signings on the final day of the window.

We'll be back tomorrow with all the fall-out from today's deals.

Pellistri transfer confirmed

Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Uruguay youngster Facundo Pellistri on deadline day.

United have wanted to sign the 18-year-old for a year and MEN Sport understand he could go straight into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-team squad.

Pellistri becomes the latest youngster to join United's ranks after the Reds reached an agreement to sign Atalanta forward Amad Diallo who will move to England in January.

The winger has made 12 appearances for Penarol this season, working under former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan prior to his recent dismissal.

Pellistri said: "To join a club with the history of Manchester United is a dream come true."

The Uruguay international has signed a one-year-deal at Old Trafford and United have the option to extend his stay for a further season.

Cavani won six Ligue 1 titles with PSG and lifted the Copa America with his country back in 2011.

Cavani said: " Manchester United is one of the greatest clubs in the world, so it is a real honour to be here. I’ve worked really hard during the time off and I feel eager to compete and represent this incredible club."

Shearer asks question of United board in transfer window

Alan Shearer has questioned why the Manchester United board haven’t backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market this summer.

United had only signed Donny van de Beek going into transfer deadline day, but have now announced Alex Telles too.

Jadon Sancho has been the club’s number one transfer target all summer but have refused to meet Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of the player.

Equally, the club’s inability to sell unwanted centre-backs has prevented them from recruiting another, and United have shipped 11 goals in their opening three Premier League games.

With Sancho’s price tag remaining the same all summer but United failing to pay the required fee or recruit an alternative right-winger, Shearer questioned United’s recruitment on Match of the Day:

“They were a shambles against Crystal Palace, conceded three, they conceded two against Brighton and they were fortunate. They conceded all those goals today and it should have been more. I can think of other words other than ‘shambles’ that we can use.

“My worry with Ole is: why haven’t they backed him? Why have they not invested?

“It doesn’t take a genius to work out what they need? Why aren’t they going out and getting what they need?”
