Declan Rice's latest statement could come true if he joins Manchester United this summer transfer window.

Declan Rice has stated that he is desperate to keep playing with Jesse Lingard, who is on loan at West Ham. Manchester United have made the England international their primary target going into the summer transfer window as they look to bolster their midfield.

United signing Rice could give him what he wants after he admitted that he wants to play with Lingard.

West Ham are in the midst of one of their best ever seasons under David Moyes and could land Europa League football if results go their way on the last day.

They sit sixth in the Premier League after being in the top four for much of the season only for Liverpool and Chelsea to sneak in in the latter stages.

Regardless, this season has been one of joy for West Ham fans and much of that can be owed to Rice and Lingard - who have been exceptional this year

Moyes landed Lingard on loan from United in January and has been an instant success, scoring nine in 14 league appearances.

"I hope he does, I really hope he does," he told Redknapp’s Big Night Out when asked about Lingard’s situation.

"He has changed our squad completely. From the first session he was brave on the ball, he’s an out and out No10 - always on the half-turn and facing forward and that is the player we needed.

The game he played against Villa when he scored two, we knew we had a real gem on our hands."

However, Rice could get his wish - at Old Trafford and not at the London Stadium.

According to The Athletic, the ex-Chelsea trainee is top of the wishlist as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks a defensive midfielder in the summer window.

West Ham would not let him go so easily after pricing him at close to £80m but that could change if Rice angles for a move.

The England international is yet to put pen to paper over a new contract, one that has been on the table since last year.

There is plenty of time on his current deal, which runs out in 2024, and he sees no reason to commit right away without weighing up his options.

But if one of them includes reuniting with Lingard at United, that could be his mind made up.
