The transfer market is already kicking into action with just two days to go until the summer window opens as clubs look to get their business done early ahead of the new season

We could be in store for a frantic summer ahead as the transfer rumour mill is working overtime with less than 48 hours until players are allowed to move clubs again.

Arsenal are chasing Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his options, but could miss out on Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa.

Meanwhile the Gunners' North London rivals Tottenham are yet to appoint a new manager after failing to land Antonio Conte, with Harry Kane's future still very much up in the air.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on that situation but appear to be focusing most of their efforts on snapping up Jadon Sancho, though Chelsea could look to scupper either deal as Thomas Tuchel seeks some quality additions at Stamford Bridge.

And Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have already made one signing in the summer market with more expected, while Georginio Wijnaldum's next move is expected to be decided imminently.

Ronaldo weighing up future

Cristiano Ronaldo's representatives have reportedly been sounding out other top clubs over their transfer plans this summer.

ESPN report the Juventus striker, 36, could still leave the club in favour of a switch elsewhere despite still having a year to run on his contract in Turin.

Real Madrid, Man Utd and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be among the clubs to be contacted by Ronaldo's team.

However, it is thought the cost of financing a deal could make it difficult for the Portuguese superstar to move on in the coming months.

No Sancho bid yet

Manchester United are yet to lodge a formal bid for Jadon Sancho, according to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten.

The winger is United's top target this summer but Borussia Dortmund are yet to receive any official contact over his sale.

Sancho is believed to have agreed terms with United last summer, which should make that side of the deal easy to arrange this time round.

Dortmund have also lowered their asking price, but United are still biding their time for now.

Villa aim for double swoop

Aston Villa aim to pull off a sensational double swoop this coming week for James Ward-Prowse and Emiliano Buendia.

Villa will smash their transfer record to land Norwich's attacking ace Buendia in a £35million record deal after reaching an agreement with Norwich.

And they are now also chasing Southampton's Ward-Prowse, 26, who has seven international caps for England.

Boss Dean Smith wants to complete both transfers as quickly as possible as Villa prepare for another season of progress in the Premier League.

Villa reach Buendia agreement

Looks like Arsenal are set to miss out on Emiliano Buendia as Aston Villa appear to have muscled their way in.

A statement on the Villa website said: "Aston Villa and Norwich City have reached an agreement for the transfer of Emiliano Buendia.

"As Emiliano is currently in the Argentina national team’s biosecure bubble, preparing for a World Cup qualifying match with Colombia on Tuesday evening, he will undergo a medical and complete the transfer after the game."

Talks had been taking place over the weekend with a fee believed to be in the region of £30-40million.

Chelsea 'in talks for Niguez'

Chelsea have reportedly made an approach to Atletico Madrid for midfielder Saul Niguez.

The Spanish international was previously a target for Manchester United, but it seems the Blues are looking to swoop in ahead of their Premier League rivals.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Chelsea have already been in touch with Atleti over the prospect of signing the 26-year-old, who is valued at around €80million.

PSG chief makes firm Mbappe stance

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted Kylian Mbappe is going nowhere this summer or indeed anytime soon.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid as he is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

But Al-Khelaifi has no intentions of letting him go without a fight.

"Kylian will continue in Paris," he said. "We'll never sell him, and he'll never leave for free... Which clubs, in terms of ambition and project, can compete with PSG?"

Real 'chasing Kounde'

Newly-appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is plotting a move for Jules Kounde and views the Sevilla defender as a 'priority' signing.

Ancelotti recently returned for his second spell at Madrid and is focusing his attention on defensive reinforcements, with the futures of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos up in the air.

Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres has also been listed as a possible recruit, but the emphasis has been placed on Kounde according to Le10 Sport.

Arsenal to miss out on Edouard

The need to bring a consistent goalscorer to the Emirates has led to Arsenal eyeing a move for Odsonne Edouard.

Alexandre Lacazette is edging towards an exit from the Gunners after failing to live up to his hefty price tag.

Edouard made himself a stand-out candidate to become one of Arsenal’s main strikers after impressing with Celtic.

He scored 21 goals last season as they won a ninth straight Scottish Premiership, adding 18 goals this term despite Celtic’s poor campaign.

But it now seems that Arsenal will not be the English club that the Frenchman joins, with The Times reporting he is set to link back up with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

They state that Rodgers’ current side Leicester are set to complete a £15million deal for the striker, with the Foxes able to offer European football next season.

United dealt Moriba blow

Manchester United have been dealt a blow as a promising youngster has been offered the chance to stay put.

Barcelona are set to offer midfielder Ilaix Moriba a new contract, per Marca.

The 18-year-old's current deal expires in 12 months' time and before the news, various clubs were said to be on red alert for an opening to secure the sensation's signature.

But Moriba being offered the reported three or four-year deal at the Camp Nou could well scupper the Red Devils and others' plans.

However, Barca's limited budget could mean that the contract isn't what their prospect is after.

Grujic 'free to leave Liverpool'

Perennial loanee Marko Grujic will finally leave Anfield this summer according to German outlet Berliner Kurier.

The Serbian has featured just 16 times since moving to Merseyside in January 2016, spending time on loan at Cardiff City, Hertha Berlin and, most recently, Porto.

The latter pair of clubs are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old's signature and an asking price around the £12m mark has been set.

Grujic was Klopp's first signing at the club, joining from native outfit Red Star Belgrade for £5.1m.

Arsenal 'in for Trippier'

Arsenal are reportedly interested in rivalling Manchester United to sign Kieran Trippier.

The Atletico Madrid full-back is wanted by both clubs, with Marca reporting that Arsenal are keen to include Hector Bellerin in a swap deal.

However, the Sun claim Trippier has informed friends he would prefer a move to Old Trafford if the opportunity arises.

Wolves willing to let Neves move on

The signing of Thomas Partey last season failed to solve Arsenal’s midfield problems, with Arteta now looking for a partner for the former Atletico Madrid man.

The likes of Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka have failed to prove they can fulfil that role in the Gunners’ team.

Now attention has turned to bringing in such a player in this summer’s transfer window, with Arsenal reportedly joining the race to sign Ruben Neves.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that contact has been made with Wolves over a potential transfer.

The Portuguese international will be allowed to leave Molineux this summer, with Manchester United and Liverpool also interested in the midfielder.

He has impressed since joining Wolves from Porto, becoming an ever-present in their team, though any move to Arsenal is said to be reliant on the Gunners moving players on.

Sancho saga takes another twist

The Red Devils' pursuit of Jadon Sancho stretches back to pre-COVID times, and Saturday saw another twist in the tale.

With personal terms rumoured to have always been agreed since last summer, Borussia Dortmund have reportedly lowered their asking price due to the current financial climate.

Mirror Football understands United could now save themselves £26.5m.

The tactic of holding out for a cheaper deal has worked for Ed Woodward and co, who will now move for the 21-year-old.

However, there is still a stumbling block.

BVB chiefs want more of the fee paid up front, while the Old Trafford hierarchy would prefer to pay in installments.
