Declan Rice sends Jesse Lingard cryptic message amid Manchester United exit speculation

The West Ham and England midfielder could be joined by Lingard next season if he completes a permanent Man Utd transfer exit.

Declan Rice has dropped yet another hint that he wants Jesse Lingard to re-join him at West Ham next season, amid doubts over the Manchester United player's future.

Lingard could seek a permanent United exit this summer after enjoying a productive spell on loan with the Hammers in the second half of last season. He has less than 12 months remaining on his United contract.

And after posting a picture on his Instagram page after returning to United training at Carrington this week, Lingard was inundated with comments - many of them from former teammates.

Former United star Adnan Januzaj and England playmaker Jack Grealish commented, but it was Rice's comment that stood out.

He said: "I see u [sic]," followed by some emojis.

It could be interpreted as a demand that Lingard reunites with Rice at the London Stadium, or simply that the pair are close following a spell in the West Ham team together. Either way, the interest from the London club is unlikely to go away with United set to make a decision on Lingard's future.

Rice commented on Lingard's Instagram post

Speaking at the end of last season, following Lingard's spell at West Ham - in which he netted nine goals in 16 games - manager David Moyes made his intentions over the United player clear.

"I hope Jesse is here [next season]," said the West Ham boss.

"We would like to keep him but there is no guarantee, he is not our player. He has done an exceptional job for us on loan and we will see where we go from there.

"I hope Jesse will also appreciate that West Ham has been good for Jesse. I think he was in a place where maybe there are not many other clubs where what he has done here would have happened for him.

"We have given him an opportunity and a platform. [We had] a group of players that were in good form going into January, Jesse helped us but he joined a group of players with momentum and a club that was doing well and on the up. So, yes. I would like to keep Jesse."
