Juventus give Cristiano Ronaldo transfer update amid Manchester United speculation
The former Man Utd and Real Madrid player has been linked with a sensational transfer back to Old Trafford.
Former Manchester City star Danilo has quashed rumours about his Juventus teammate Cristiano Ronaldo departing the club this summer, amid suggestions he may return to Manchester United.
Ronaldo left the club over a decade ago, but rumours have consistently linked him back to a sensational return to Old Trafford. The MEN understands he is not currently a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
The Portuguese's legacy at United is up there with some of the club's greatest ever players and he is still adored by many United supporters around the world.
And at 36-years-old he still hasn't lost his touch. He scored 36 goals for Juventus in all competitions last season but, despite his impressive performances, the Turin-based club could offload him this summer.
However, current Juventus defender, Danilo, has dismissed reports claiming Ronaldo is on the verge of a departure from the club.
Speaking to Gazette dello Sport he insisted the Portuguese star will stay at Juventus next season.
Danilo said: "Having him in the team is important for us because he brings an avalanche of goals, and besides, he’s a dear friend, we’ve known each other since Real Madrid.
"He’ll still be with us next season."
New Juventus Sporting director, Federico Cherubini, echoed Danilo's comments in a statement earlier this month after his appointment.
He said: "We haven't had any indication on the part of Cristiano Ronaldo [that he wants to leave].
"We don't need to talk about a transfer and Juventus do not want to sell him. We're talking about a player who scored 36 goals in 44 games last season.
"We're very happy that Ronaldo will be with the squad after his holiday."
