Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains transfer window deals
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Tom Heaton has taken 'the last step' of his career in rejoining Manchester United.
Heaton, 35, rejoined the club he left in 2012 after being released by Aston Villa and could be recognised as United's number two goalkeeper next season, depending on the David de Gea and Dean Henderson situation.
Why Solskjaer gave Grant and Mata new deals
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained his summer transfer renewals.
“We are a young squad and that’s been part of the thinking," he told club media.
"We have the professionals that can be an example day in and day out. Our young lads think they know it because we bring the up through the Academy and they do learn good habits. But then they come into the first team and see World Cup winners like Juan and the way he conducts himself, even if he doesn’t play.
"He didn’t play as much as he would have liked to last year but he’s never ever letting himself or his team down with his attitude. So [they are] good examples and Lee, as well, knows he’s got good goalkeepers ahead of him but the example he sets is something we have to reward them [for] and it makes the group better, and they’re still good players.”

Rumours about him continue to pop up.

Man United aiming to finalise pre-season training plans
Manchester United are attempting to arrange a fifth pre-season friendly after calling off a planned trip to Malta.
United held prolonged discussions about flying to the Mediterranean island to play a friendly but it is understood plans for the trip have now been scrapped.
Malta was added to the green list by the UK government last month but the Maltese government said anyone travelling from Britain and not double vaccinated against Covid-19 would have to quarantine on arrival in the country.
United are instead expected to travel to St Andrews in Scotland for training after they host Brentford on July 28. United could play another friendly against Championship club Preston North End, having already arranged games with Derby County, Queens Park Rangers, Brentford, and Everton.
Manchester United appoint new youth team coach
Manchester United have appointed Travis Binnion as their new Under-18 coach, with Neil Ryan to assist Neil Wood with the Under-23s.
Binnion previously worked with the Under-16s following his arrival from Sheffield United in November 2019. Binnion oversaw the development of Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Bramall Lane before he was brought to United by the academy head Nick Cox, who was also previously at Sheffield United.
Ryan replaced Kieran McKenna as the U18 coach three years ago but has moved up to the U23s for the new season. The U23 squad is expected to be younger than last season, with the majority of the older players scheduled to leave on loan.
United have planned for there to be more 'flexibility' between the U23s and U18s, with Ryan the obvious link between the two squads. Quinton Fortune, who assisted Wood, left to join Reading's first-team coaching staff last year.
