Manchester United transfer news LIVE Kieran Trippier and Raphael Varane to Man Utd latest news

The latest Man United transfer updates and breaking news all day long as Jadon Sancho nears move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have continued their preparations for the forthcoming campaign by launching their new home kit.

United formally revealed their new home shirt on Thursday morning. A product description on Adidas' official website references the words 'youth, courage and success' as the inspiration behind the new home shirt - with those three words emblazoned inside the neck of the kit

"The thee pillars of Manchester United's motto have brought the club more than a century of triumphs," the description reads. "With its clean red design and white ribbed crewneck, this adidas authentic football jersey takes inspiration from the iconic kit that carried them to some of their most memorable moments."

The new kit has been launched ahead of United's first friendly of pre-season on Sunday, in which they will face Derby County.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is expected to be officially unveiled as a United player by the end of the week, while United also hold an interest in Kieran Trippier and Raphael Varane.

United 'enter Aouar chase'

United have joined a number of Premier League rivals in the hunt for the services of Lyon's Hossem Aouar, ESPN states.

Arsenal saw an approach last year rejected but are back in the market with Lyon's asking price dropping to €25m this summer.

However, it's stated that United, Tottenham and Liverpool are also in the hunt.

Exclusive: Trippier hopeful of United transfer

Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier is hopeful of concluding a summer transfer to Manchester United, MEN Sport can reveal.

Solskjaer 'plans tactical overhaul' at United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning a tactical overhaul of Manchester United for the new season, reports are claiing.

The United boss has reportedly told his players he wants to play a more progressive 4-3-3 instead of the 4-2-3-1 that saw Fred and Scott McTominay play at the base of midfield.

ESPN claim signing Raphael Varane to play at centre-back is vital to the new tactical plan.

Dalot visits social institutions while on holiday

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has taken time out of his holiday to visit social institutions in Portugal.

The 22-year-old is on leave following his exploits at Euro 2020 and is visiting his homeland before he returns to United for pre-season training.

During his time off, Dalot is devoting himself to visiting social institutions near Braga and yesterday he visited CAID, an institution supporting people with disabilities.

He spent a few hours with patients of this facility and commented on the experience: "they do a fantastic job, I think everyone should have the opportunity to visit this institution".

£68m double-deal

United are 'on the brink' of signing both Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier to bolster their defence, the Sun states.

The report claims both deals are 'all but done' and announcements are expected towards the end of next week.

Varane's deal is said to cost £50m, while it's added United will pay around £18m to bring Trippier back to English football.

Mata contract decision 'surprising'

Pundit Carlton Palmer has expressed surprise over Manchester United's awarding of a new contract to Juan Mata.

United announced the 33-year-old had signed on for another 12 months, with Palmer telling Football Transfer Tavern that he thought it was a strange decision:

“It surprised me that one, Juan Mata signing a new contract. Coming to the latter years of his career, surely he’ll be wanting to play football?

“He played very, very little football last season and I never get that. If you know you’re not going to be playing regularly, why would you stay at a football club?”

Two Declan Rice alternatives

A United deal for West Ham and England defensive midfielder Declan Rice may simply prove too tricky to do this summer.

But with United in need of a midfielder to hold the fort and Rice looking too expensive, who could they turn to?

Two possible alternatives were assessed by MEN Sport in this article.

Camavinga boost for United?

United have been given apparent hope of striking a move for Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga with reports from France suggesting the club are already targeting his replacement.

According to Foot Mercato (via GFFN), Rennes have opened talks with AZ Alkmaar over a transfer for Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners

That could open the door for United to move for Camavinga, though other clubs like PSG and Real Madrid are also interested.

Sancho announcement?

United fans have waited patiently to see the official unveiling of Jadon Sancho, but so far none has been forthcoming, despite MEN Sport's understanding that the promotional pictures and videos have indeed been shot.

Sancho completed his medical at Old Trafford earlier this week after United announced they'd agreed a fee for Borussia Dortmund for the England winger.

Will there be an announcement today? There should be...

Cristiano Ronaldo update

Cristiano Ronaldo appears likely to stay with Juventus this summer after the club's vice-president revealed that no request to the contrary has been made.

The 36-year-old former Manchester United forward has been tentatively linked with a move back to Old Trafford as speculation over his future continues.

However, MEN Sport understands Ronaldo isn't a target for United, who will soon formally announce the deal for Jadon Sancho and are chasing Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

Juve chief Pavel Nedved says he is expecting Ronaldo to report back for duty as Juve aim to wrestle back the Scudetto from rivals Inter Milan.

Jose Mourinho wins 10-0 in first game as Roma boss

Jose Mourinho began his reign as Roma boss with a spectacular 10-0 victory in a pre-season friendly against Montecatini.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss was sacked by Tottenham in April but was swiftly appointed by Italian outfit Roma on a three-year deal.

Mourinho, who made Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio his first signing earlier this week, saw his new side make a perfect start against their Serie D opponents on Thursday night.

Trippier 'desperate' for United move

Kieran Trippier is reportedly 'desperate' to return to the Premier League with Manchester United this summer, as he wants a crack at trying to win silverware in his homeland.

That's according to the Daily Star, who report United's known interest in Trippier. A move from Atletico Madrid may be tricky to do this summer given the Spanish club's asking price, valuing Trippier at more than £30million after he helped them win La Liga last season. Trippier has ties to the Manchester area, having come through the Man City academy, played for Burnley, and his family support United.

United are showing they’ve learnt from their 2018 mistake in transfer window

For the first time in the eight years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired Manchester United have momentum.

Their third-place finish in 2019/20 and second-place finish in last season’s Premier League is the first time since the end of the Ferguson era have United have improved in two successive league seasons.

And given the ambition they’re showing in this transfer window it looks like the club is determined to put that last step within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s grasp.

Too often in recent years it’s looked like simply being in the Champions League is the be-all and end-all for the Glazer family.

Manchester United fans confused after Raphael Varane transfer 'confirmed' by phoney Lee Grant account

Manchester United fans were left confused on Thursday after a verified account welcomed Raphael Varane to the club.

Attempting to trick other users into believing they were looking at United's official account on Twitter, the verified account - with the username @lee_grant13 - went to the effort of mocking up a graphic with Varane donning United's new adidas home kit. The amateur-looking graphic contained a misspelling of Varane's first name, referring to him as 'Rapheal', rather than 'Raphael'.

The account has since gone private but beforehand its display name had changed to 'Manchester United' with an image of the club crest as its display picture.

Rashford and Sancho jet off on holiday together ahead of United transfer announcement

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were in good spirits as they appeared to jet off on holiday together, ahead of the latter's unveiling at the club.

The England international has effectively completed his £72.9m transfer to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund, with an announcement to confirm the deal coming this week.

Sancho, 21, underwent a medical at Carrington on Tuesday, which passed without a hitch, and had the obligatory promo pictures taken that are customary for any new addition.
