Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd 'very close' to Raphael Varane transfer

Follow throughout the day for the latest Man United transfer rumours and breaking news.

England are set to play Denmark at Wembley in the semi-final of the European Championship on Wednesday night.

Manchester United have multiples representatives in Gareth Southgate's England squad, namely Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and imminent signing Jadon Sancho, although it was arguably left-back Shaw who stole the show in the previous round.

Shaw enjoyed an outstanding season for United and he's continued that run onto the international stage to benefit his nation.

In transfer news, it was claimed yesterday that Raphael Varane has verbally agreed to join United this summer.

Reports have suggested Varane has ‘given his word’ he will soon arrive at Old Trafford, indicating that he will indeed join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's side if Real Madrid and United can reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

It's reported that Madrid's asking price for Varane is actually €60m (£51m) and that United are only willing to pay €45m (£38m) for the Frenchman's signature, which is reminiscent of the noise from Borussia Dortmund's dealings with United over Jadon Sancho recently.

Raphael Varane 'very close' to United transfer

United are 'very close' to completing a deal for Raphael Varane, according to one report.

Spanish journalist Jorge Calabres told El Bunker podcast that Real Madrid defender Varane is closer to joining United this summer than he is to renewing his deal at the Bernabeu.

It is also suggested that a bid of £42million plus add-ons would likely be enough to tempt Real to sell.

United 'consider' Jules Kounde as a Raphael Varane alternative

The dream this summer is to sign Raphael Varane, but United are open to alternatives too.

AS report on the future of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde and say he is also an option for United this summer.

United are making progress over a deal for Varane but are keeping their options open as they consider adding a second centre-back to their squad too.

Aston Villa 'getting closer' to Axel Tuanzebe deal

An exit seems certain this summer.

United are open to loaning out Axel Tuanzebe and Football Insider suggest a deal is getting closer to completion.

Such a move would suit all parties with playing time at a premium next season.

Rio Ferdinand warns United against Eduardo Camavinga transfer

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Eduardo Camavinga may not be the ideal midfield target for the club and backed a move for Declan Rice instead.

Ferdinand said: "I've not seen enough of him if I'm honest. I've seen a bit of him, his debut against PSG where he got man of the match, unreal.

"Talent? Obviously. Is he going to come in and effect the team right now and become a star, or is he going to come in and be a bit like an Amad, who comes in for £40m but is nowhere near the starting 11?

"Is that what we [United] need? Or do we need someone like Declan Rice who is flying at the moment? In an England shirt, he's taken it to other levels now. We all knew he was a good player at West Ham but what Declan Rice is doing in the England team right now, for his age, is a madness."

United 'prepared to pay' €50m for Raphael Varane

United are prepared to pay €50m (£42.9m) for Raphael Varane this summer, according to Ian McGarry.

The Transfer Window Podcast host reiterates news that United have “reignited” their interest in signing Varane, while stating just how much the club would spend on a deal.

"He’s a player who has won literally everything. He is someone who is out of contract next year so therefore available at a very reasonable price when you consider what good defenders are going for in the current market.

“It’s our understanding that Manchester United are prepared to pay €50m for Varane.

“Real Madrid do not want to lose for free in a year’s time.”

Kieran Trippier breaks silence on United transfer interest

Kieran Trippier insists he is fully focused on the ongoing European Championship despite transfer interest from Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add an attacking alternative at right-back to his squad this summer, with the Atletico Madrid defender seen as the ideal man for such a role.

Trippier, 30, has made arrangements to relocate permanently to his home city of Manchester but any move would rely on Atletico lowering their asking-price for the La Liga title winner.

Raphael Varane 'has everything ready’ for United transfer

Jadon Sancho is in the bag, now attention turns to defence.

United could be set to take the next step towards a dream summer with the possible addition of Raphael Varane.

Sport state Carlo Ancelotti's ‘first request’ at Real Madrid was to keep Varane, but the paper claims he already ‘has everything ready with Manchester United.'

Varane made an early exit from Euro 2020 with France.

Jesse Lingard 'unwilling' to be used as part of Declan Rice deal

A dream swap-deal for Declan Rice looks unlikely this summer.

United have been linked with a move for West Ham midfielder Rice in which Lingard could be used as a sweetener.

However, ESPN say Lingard has no intention to be included in such a move.

United confirm Tom Heaton's new squad number

United appear to have confirmed what squad number Tom Heaton will occupy next season following his arrival at the club last week.

Heaton became United's first official signing of the summer when he signed a two-year contract last Friday to become the club's new third-choice goalkeeper.

The 35-year-old started his career in the United academy and left permanently in 2012 but has re-signed for the club following his release by Aston Villa at the end of last season.

United stance on Eduardo Camavinga in transfer window

Eduardo Camavinga is one of the midfielders under consideration by Manchester United as they weigh up a move this summer.

Camavinga, 19, is out of contract at Rennes next summer and reputedly available for €30million (£25.7m), with United understood to admire the France international.

The Manchester Evening News wrote last month Camavinga was an option for United due to their interest in the French market and the France international is a cheaper option than midfield alternatives.

Interest in Camavinga is being driven by his representatives at the Stellar Agency now he has under a year left on his Rennes deal.

PSG 'make contact' with Paul Pogba representatives over possible summer move

Another day, another Paul Pogba rumours.

This time Foot Mercatocomment on his plans and say Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo are in direct contact with the United midfielder.

They say Pogba is impressed with PSG's sale pitch so far and state a transfer can go ahead as long as United keep their demands reasonable.

Southampton 'increasingly confident' of completing Brandon Williams loan deal

They say the two clubs have held talks in which good progress has been made. However, a loan fee, which United will insist upon, is yet to be agreed upon.

Juventus linked with summer move for Paul Pogba

United could sign some key players this summer, but they could also lose one.

They say Juve will offer Pogba the chance to re-join them and have made his representatives aware of their interest.

Pogba is set to return to United for pre-season.

United 'plan bids' for Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga

This could well be a dream transfer window for United fans.

Marca suggest United are set to offer £50m for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, 28, and £25m for Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, 18, as they push on with their summer revamp.

Coupled with the £72.9m fee paid for Jadon Sancho and United could transform their squad for roughly £150m this summer.

Raphael Varane has 'given his word' to United transfer

Raphael Varane has 'given his word' to United regarding a summer transfer, according to Sport.

While it's said that Varane's 'departure is inevitable', United still need to agree terms with Real Madrid - with it said the Spanish side are seeking a fee of €60m.

That's above the €45m figure that reports in Spain have widely stated as the figure United are prepared to pay, although the difference isn't hugely significant.

Varane made an early exit from Euro 2020 with France.

Manchester United players return for pre-season training

A callow Manchester United squad has assembled for the first day of pre-season training at Carrington.

Fourteen United players have been involved in international tournaments this summer and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had to promote a raft of youngsters to first-team training.

New signing Tom Heaton took part in the first summer session and academy striker Joe Hugill, 17, has been pictured with the first-team for the first time.

Facuno Pellistri, Teden Mengi, James Garner, and Tahith Chong are back in the first-team fold following loan spells. Thirteen of the 18 players photographed are academy graduates.

More players are expected to return later this week, with Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Andreas Pereira, Phil Jones, and Donny van de Beek conspicuous by their absence in club media.

Inter Milan 'considering' Alex Telles loan bid

Italian outlet Calciomercato report Inter Milan are eyeing a loan bid for Alex Telles.

After Ashley Young's departure, the Serie A winners are believed to be in the market for a left-back and it's said that they're interested in Telles, who they could swoop to sign on loan.

Telles, 28, joined United in October last year but has since struggled for game time at Old Trafford following Luke Shaw's glittering form and he could therefore move on this summer.

Notably, Telles played for Inter Milan on loan in the 2015/16 season.
