William Saliba, who is now on loan at Marseille, is someone the club is interested in keeping for at least one more season.
In an interview with La Provence, Marseille president Pablo Longoria stated that William is “one of the best young defenders I’ve seen in my career.” This was reported by Tribal Football. Everything, after all, is dependent on the three parties involved. Essentially, it comes down to market value. Our relationship with Arsenal, on the other hand, is exceptional.”
The 20-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Marseille defense after appearing in 25 league games. At his age, making that many first-team appearances is extremely rare, especially for a defender of his caliber.
Because of his immense potential, Arsenal will be hesitant to trade the Frenchman on a long-term basis to another club. There may be an opportunity for another loan agreement to be beneficial to both sides. Saliba will benefit from the regular game time he will receive with a team and league in which he is already familiar.
Ben White and Gabriel are two of Arsenal’s young center-backs who are presently playing on a regular basis. With only Manchester City and Liverpool having more clean sheets this season, it will be difficult for Saliba to make an impact on this Arsenal squad.
As long as Saliba continues to shine in the Marseille squad for the foreseeable future, he may be able to begin banging on Mikel Arteta’s door and demanding first-team opportunities at the club. For the time being, given his age, he should simply be patient and continue to play regular games on loan with his current club.
