Fred, a Manchester United midfielder, said that he formerly preferred Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain over colleague Cristiano Ronaldo, but has since altered his views.
Fred has said that he once preferred Messi to Ronaldo because of the Argentine’s playing style.
However, the Brazilian international has been persuaded to reconsider his views following his time at Manchester United sharing a dressing room with Ronaldo.
For nearly a decade, Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the Ballon d’Or prizes.
Both players have won 12 of the last 13 Ballon d’Or honors, with Luka Modric of Real Madrid being the sole exception in 2018.

Over the years, the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo has inspired controversy among fans, analysts, and players.
Some have even reassessed who is the superior of the two, and Fred is one of them.
“I used to say Messi [was the best player], but it’s a style I prefer,” Fred told TNT Sports Brasil. However, after playing alongside Cristiano, I’ve witnessed firsthand how much effort he puts into every element of his football life. He is always in the right place at the right time on the pitch. He is the player I have ever seen with the greatest ability to turn a game around. I prefer him to Lionel Messi at the moment.
