Kieran Trippier breaks silence on Manchester United transfer interest

Man Utd are interested in a move for England and Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier this summer.

Kieran Trippier insists he is fully focused on the ongoing European Championship despite transfer interest from Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add an attacking alternative at right-back to his squad this summer, with the Atletico Madrid defender seen as the ideal man for such a role.

Trippier, 30, has made arrangements to relocate permanently to his home city of Manchester but any move would rely on Atletico lowering their asking-price for the La Liga title winner.

MEN Sport understands United have made no headway yet in discussions to sign Trippier, as Atletico hold out for a higher fee than €20million this summer.

Now the former Tottenham and Burnley has addressed the rumours and reiterated his focus is fully on Euro 2020 success with England.

“I’ve just enjoyed the season [at Atlético] and we’ve won the title,” he told The Guardian. “I’m away with England, we’re playing Denmark and I’m not focusing on my club or what is going on.

"I’m just focused on England and doing as best as I can if I play. If I don’t play, I still give 100 per cent.”

United have told Diogo Dalot to return to the club despite AC Milan's interest in re-signing the right-back.

Milan proposed to sign Dalot on another season-long loan with an option to buy, but United currently have no intention of negotiating for the Portuguese and informed him to report for pre-season training this month. Dalot could compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right back berth if Trippier cannot be signed.
